Introduction
Woodbine Mohawk Park is a harness racing track in Milton, Ontario. It is owned by the Woodbine Entertainment Group. It is located about 25 miles from Toronto in the town of Campbellville, Ontario and opened in 1963. It is a sister track to Woodbine in Toronto and hosts the North American Cup harness racing championship.
During the Spring and Fall, the Mohawk Racetrack features high-quality racing action four nights a week. The track is open all year round with many trainers also using it as a training ground.
History of the racetrack
The Mohawk Raceway was opened on April 26, 1963, by the then Ontario Jockey Club as Mohawk Racetrack with over 4,000 spectators in attendance. The 400-acre site was constructed at a cost of $3.5 million. On April 18, 1970, there was a record crowd of 11,470 in attendance for the International Drivers Competition that featured drivers from 8 different countries.
In October 1999, Mohawk Raceway hosted eight Breeders Crown races for the first time and is considered the richest event in Canadian harness racing history. Most of the major harness racing stakes events were moved from Woodbine to Mohawk in 2007. These races include:

Racetrack Specification
The track itself is ⅞ mile (1.4 km) in circumference. The course can accommodate ten starters behind the gate but began placing the tenth horse in the second tier in 2020. The homestretch is 1,095 feet long (334 m), and the far turn has a larger radius than the clubhouse turn to encourage acceleration into the homestretch.
Facilities
Woodbine Mohawk Park has more than 1000 slot machines with some of the revenue from this operation being used to increase the horseracing prizemoney on offer. The Racetrack features climate-controlled areas for racegoers so they can have a fabulous race day experience no matter what.
The track features 280 closed-circuit monitors and many Mutuel windows. The equine facilities can cater for 828 horses in the barns and has enough parking for 3,000 cars. As with racing tracks, Mohawk Racetrack features plenty of great food and drinks establishments for attendees to enjoy.
