Connections Put Spencer On Line
Richard Fahey’s Line Sport gave plenty of encouragement to connections, when staying on to finish 3rd at Ripon on debut. Jamie Spencer is given piloting duties, this afternoon and the Exceed And Excel colt can shed his maiden tag at the 2nd time of asking in the 3.15 at Wolverhampton. Noble Act arrives for her first day at school, with a decent pedigree, so watch market moves.
There are a number of useful sorts in the 5.15, a 1m 1f handicap for 3-year-olds. Dommersen, Status Quo, Ballard Down, Winter Rose and Albert Boy can all go close, although the tentative pick is Mark Johnston’s Jintshi with Franny Norton in the saddle.
Battling Bob Can Make Hugo Happy
The action at Southwell gets underway at 5.25, with a 2m chasing contest. Marky Bob shaped well when finishing runner-up at Newton Abbot. Now back to his Fakenham winning mark, he can land the spoils for Hugo Froud. Sylvan Legend’s form hasn’t been the best recently, but there were signs of improvement at Worcester and Jamie Bargary (claiming 5lb) deserves another go.
Nicky Henderson’s Sanaija performed impressively on the flat, over in France and can put last October’s weak display at Uttoxeter behind her in the 7.00. Excellent Team and The Lampo Genie look the only runners capable of mounting a serious challenge.
Dream Start For Duffield, At Wetherby?
The curtain-raiser at Wetherby is a 5f encounter for 2-year-olds and Dubai Knights should be heavily backed to win for Ann Duffield, following an excellent debut and 3rd place in a 3-way photo finish. Private Matter looks the best of the unraced runners, but a wide draw means the Richard Fahey-trained colt is very-much up against it.
Miramonte Dancer, Simply Clever, Tricky Dicky, Mango Chutney, Fine Example all look well-treated, in the 6.10 – a fiercely-competitive handicap, over a mile. Allfredandnobell could well be the value bet here though, with Micky Hammond’s runner expected to appreciate the drop in trip and looking unexposed.
G1 Action, In France
There’s no Irish racing today, but it’s a busy day in France where meetings will be held at Angers and Chantilly. The G1 Prix d’Ispahan (Chantilly) will feature both Clive Cox’s My Dream Boat and David O’Meara’s Mondialiste, although both look held in such esteemed company. New Bay, Dariyan and A Shin Hikari all look to have considerably more class and should combine to make this year’s renewal a real thriller.
