We have found four really good races to bet on today, covering a listed race at Chester, a group 1 in France at Deauville with lots of British interest, and to wrap things up after a superb Galway Festival a 100,000 euro 7f Handicap where they will all be trying and brilliant Chase to draw the curtain down.

Always a good race in front of 35,000 plus at Chester. The draw as well as course and distance form help us get to a short list that includes Ed Walker’s Aeolus in the plum draw of 1 and who was just 3 lengths behind the Tin Man at Newbury, who looks a real sprinter. Ed is just finding form again now and this one could show just how strong he is. Danzeno would have been of interest but for the draw of 10 but Eastern Impact has the right credentials from 2 and was beaten just 4l in the July Cup. Surely the strongest form on offer. Pretend is an all-weather beast who is yet to perform at this level on turf and Instransigent has the ability for his in form trainer but hasn’t been showing it lately. The forecast seems up for grabs in this race so our two are.

This is just a wonderful race. Alice Springs brings in to this race, for Aiden O’Brien, the best form on offer in 2016 after a scintillating performance in the Falmouth. Amazing Maria was devastating when beating Ervedrya last year but hasn’t shown anywhere near that form in 2016, of which the same could be said for Esoterique, both clearly capable of a big run. Volta is better at a mile, after not producing over 10f last time out and Impassable will benefit from her first run in 2016, which may put her spot on to show the form that lowered the colours of Miss France at Longchamp. Lumiere may just have been better than Alice Springs in winning last time but the winning margin – decisive, makes it difficult to gauge how strong the opposition was, but there is no doubting she is back. It’s just mouth-watering this race and we haven’t mentioned either Qemah, such a good winner at Royal Ascot or Spectre. This is the best race of its type to be run in 2016. The best in Europe tag is up for grabs today. Luck and jockeyship may come in to it and just maybe the decider will be the 3yo allowance.

3:20 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund “Ahonoora” Handicap (Premier Handicap) 7f
Any amount of trainers will have lined horses up to contest this race and it’s a real art just to get the horses rating right in order to get in to this handicap. British trainers have won it 4 times in the last 10 years and Dermot Weld has got two wins to his name in that time. Brian Ellison has sent out Barraweez to win it in the last two years and this incredible horse looks to make it a hat trick. It may be that he has to give best to stablemate Top Notch Tonto who is one of four runners for Brian Ellison. Kevin Ryan, who has won this before enters Kelinni who is of interest. You don’t see many Aiden O’Brien handicappers on a Sunday so The Happy Prince takes the eye and 7f may be ideal in a strongly run race, which this will be. Dermot Weld seeks to make it 3 wins in 10 years with horse lightly raced horse Katimavik who has been off for 133 days and will have been laid out for this race. It’s a puzzle that needs solving

Some quality chasing to round off a fabulous days racing. Henry de Bromhead has had his winners this week and he will be hoping that Bally Longford is in the same form that saw him victorious last year. He runs off a mark just 4 lbs higher this year and has had just the one run to put him right in 2016. It’s a better race this year. It pays to take heed of a Tony Martin runner but it may be that at 12 Pires’ best days are behind him. Three Kingdoms is of interest, he is better than he showed the other day. He may give them most to do on a sound surface. We like Mountain King for Gordon Elliot and Mr Fifty One for Jessie Harrington
