Palmer’s Inmate Looks The Pick

There are just 3 UK meetings, on Monday, with action taking place at Thirsk, Chelmsford and Windsor. The opener at Thirsk (2.15) is an interesting contest for 2-year-olds. Prazeres will be widely-expected to win, at the 2nd time of asking, following a promising debut at Newbury. Hugo Palmer’s Koropick has an eye-catching pedigree though and is slightly preferred.

Chelmsford’s 3.30 is a Class 3 encounter, over 7f. None of the 5 runners looks completely out of it, but Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Buckstay is the blog’s tentative pick. The Lawman gelding finished 4th in the G2 Lennox Stakes, ahead of both Markaz and Birchwood.

Windsor Showpiece Can Be All About Eve

The big race at Windsor is the Sprint Series Finale Handicap (7.30), which has a purse of £48,518. Eve Johnson Houghton has a trio of runners, in this one (Goring, Cool Bahamian and Ice Age). Goring looks well-worth at least an each-way bet. There should be no shortage of pace and that will suit the 4-year-old, down to the ground.

There are 7 races at Roscommon and A Year To Remember goes for Aidan O’Brien in the 7.20, but it’s the Galileo colt’s first outing since October and Palmones gets the nod. The Rock Of Gibraltar filly was impeded at Galway and had won her previous 2 races, quite comfortably.
