CUR Galileo European Breeders Fund Futurity Stakes (Group 2) 7f
It’s no surprise that the O’Briens field 4 of the 5 runners in this race but that doesn’t make it any easier. Jim Bolger is the only outsider to the party and he brings Radio Silence in a particularly military themed race. You feel that two of the others would have to run below their best for him to win or he improves another half a stone and they stand still. Not without hope but not a betting probability. In reality they have Churchill to beat. He looked good winning the Chesham and he will have no problems beating them on the field, beach, or wherever they run it today!
3 units win Churchill.
CUR Kilfrush Stud Royal Whip Stakes (Group 3) 1m2f
It’s a three horse race. Fascinating Rock for Dermot Weld, who is a trainer we rarely get right but who has a horse who claimed the scalp of Found last time out and in doing so ran his best ever race. The ground and trip should be ideal. Ger Lyons Endless Drama has run races to a similar mark but only over 2 furlongs shorter. If he improved for the step up he would be a player. On breeding that is not guaranteed. Then we get to the 3yo Us Army Ranger, not seen since getting to within 1.5 lengths of Harzand in the Derby and for whom further is better. Not guaranteed to find 10f his optimum. They will all have to go to beat the Weld runner if he brings his A game.
2 units win Fascinating Rock.
CUR Breast Cancer Research Debutante Stakes (Group 2) 7f
It’s hard to see past Brave Anna in this race, particularly after Queen Kindly sluiced up at York this week and the selection was in front of her when winning the Albany at Royal Ascot. If she turns up in the same mood we could have another 1000 Guineas favourite. Perhaps Kevin Condon’s Elusive Beauty could follow her home.
3 units win Brave Anna.
DEA Darley Prix Morny (Group 1) (2yo Colts & Fillies) (Turf) 6f
The Long awaited return of Lady Aurelia happens in this race and if she comes back in the same form as when destroying a quality field then everyone else is playing for places. She was awesome. The thing is Tis Marvellous is a very, very good horse and Clive Cox hasn’t dodged this race, so is Aiden O’Brien’s Peace Envoy and the Freddie Heads Alramah is no back number. She will win, Lady Aurelia, probably at prohibitive odds but we can’t wait to see her back on the track.
5 units win Lady Aurelia.
DEA Darley Prix Jean Romanet (Group 1) (4yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Turf) 1m2f
This race is dominated by non French trained horses. Speedy Boarding, Royal Solitaire, Bocca Baciata and Bateel are all trained abroad. Even the locally trained Steip Amach, who has a chance was in the care of Jim Bolger until the 30th June. So it’s an away win, the question is, which one. We are big fans of Jessie Harrington’s, Bocca Baciata and whilst she isn’t quite Group1 this appears to be a Group 1 in name only.
2 units e/w Bocca Baciata.
HNV Grosser Audi Sport Preis des Audi Zentrum Hannover (Furstenberg-Rennen) (Group 3) (3yo) (Turf) 1m2f
WE backed Wai Key Star in the German Derby. He lookd all over the winner with a furlong to go only to be found out by the heavy ground. He will be too quick on this better ground and slightly shorter trip today
2 units win Wai Key Star.
