Racecourse In Focus – Thirsk – Bet Online

Friday will be action-packed, with no less than 6 meetings scheduled. There’s a Listed contest at Ascot, with John Gosden’s Nathra benefiting from the booking of Frankie Dettori in the Valiant Stakes (3:20pm).

In addition to the cards at Uttoxeter, Newmarket and Chepstow, there are two more to run the rule over in Yorkshire. York‘s feature race will be the Listed Lyric Fillies’ Stakes (7:30pm), a contest that will feature the likes of Ajman Princess, Aim To Please, Playful Sound.

One or two spectators may well be a little worse for wear, when the curtain finally comes down at York, as they will have begun the day at Thirsk where the first of 8 races gets underway at 1:20pm!

Racing At Thirsk

Thirsk is an oval track which runs left-handed. The course distance is 1m 2f and there is a 3f finishing straight, as well as a 6f chute. The racecourse opened in the 1920s, although action had been taking place nearby for centuries prior to construction.

This racecourse is among the best in Yorkshire and the local people are extremely proud of the area’s racing heritage and sporting history. It is also one of the prettiest venues, in England. The grounds are beautifully kept, with sweeping lawns separating some fantastic old buildings.

Recent Developments

The course has adapted over recent years, to provide much more than just racing. There are facilities for conferences, private parties, fairs and much more. Many local people will use Thirsk Racecourse for their wedding reception or to entertain business clients. The course is right at the heart of the local community, attracting lots of local families to the numerous race days that are held here each year.

Making A Day Of It

A day out at Thirsk is not expensive and there is no need to dress up, unless you really want to. There is plenty of free parking and an abundance of places on the course to have a drink or a meal. Many choose to take their own picnic.

Betting With RaceBets

At RaceBets, we offer betting on all races that are held at Thirsk. If you want to place a bet, there are a number of options that are open to you.

Most people choose to make win-only bets. A win-only bet is as straight-forward as it sounds. You are just betting on one of the horses to come first in the race. Another option is to make an each-way bet. An each-way bet is two bets on the same horse – one to win and one to place. This means that if your horse is just beaten at the winning post, you still get some kind of return.

On some races, we may be offering head-to-head markets. These are very popular with our regular customers. With a head-to-head bet, you just need to correctly select which one out of the two matched horses will finish first. Neither horse needs to win, it just needs to beat the other one!

You can also make Exacta and Trifecta bets. With an Exacta, you need to correctly pick the horses that will come first and second. With a Trifecta bet, you must pick the horses that will come first, second and third. In both cases, you must pick the horses in the right order. This is very tricky, which is why the dividends from Exacta and Trifecta bets can be very high.

RaceBets offers you opportunities to bet on races all over the UK and all over the World. You will not find a more comprehensive race betting service online. Create your own account, today!
