Some great quality Sunday Action with for us the highlight being the Group 1 Preis Von Europa in Cologne. This is a good contest and of course its live only on Racebets streaming so let’s get involved and enjoy.
2:20 Curragh – C.L. & M.F. Weld Park Stakes (Group 3) 7f
A nice way to start a Sunday, with a 2yo 7f Group 3. The interesting horse is Dawn of a New Era. Jim Bolger put his filly in at the deep end on Debut – A group 1, in which she was far from disgraced but clearly very green both before and during the race. He wouldn’t have done that if she wasn’t showing something special at home. She will improve, no doubt, will it be fast enough to catch the two obvious choices, Eziyra for Dermot Weld and Grecian Light for the red hot Charlie Appleby. The Weld runner is the choice with possibly more improvement expected from her than the Godolphin filly.

2:50 Curragh – Renaissance Stakes (Group 3) 6f
The hard to ignore horse in this race is The Happy Prince, as he has surprised everyone with his last two performances. Gordon Lord Byron just keeps running great races for connections and these conditions seem ideal but his penalty is a concern. If Goken was to come back to form he could give them all something to chase but we would prefer him over 5f. In Salutem ran the Prince close two runs ago but on these terms he should be behind again. It looks like being a royal winner for the King of Irish Racing. Aiden O’Brien

3:25 Curragh – Juddmonte Beresford Stakes (Group 2) 1m
The Beresford should be fought out by O’Brien and Weld, as these races often are but given Aiden has 4 and one by default, which one will triumph. The two most logical winners are Capri who has won at Listed level and did it quite easily and Fierey Speech who was just denied in a Group 3 at Leopardstown. Capri should come out on top but the once raced Latin Beat is of real interest
2 units win Capri
3:25 Cologne – Preis Von Europa (Group 1) (3yo+) (Turf) 1m4f
At Racebets we like our German racing, particularly as we can see it live and this is another good race. Godolphin has Elite Army in but he shouldn’t be good enough to win a Group 1. Iquitos has been very good this year having won at Baden Baden at this level and beaten his biggest rival today, the mare Night Flower, who deserves a win but there is no logical reason why she should get the better of Iquitos although soft ground would bring them closer together. Red Cardinal, formerly with David Simcock, has his first run for Andreas Wohler and has place claims and could be an improver with Sirius possibly in the shake-up for a medal at best.
2 units win Iquitos
5:05 Curragh – Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital Loughbrown Stakes (Listed Race) 2m
At his best, which was in October 2015, Forgotten Rules beats all these but he has been off for nearly a year and he looks like he needs a warm up race to be at his best. So the question is will 85% be good enough to account for these in a listed contest. Possibly not. Twilight Payment ran a blinder behind Order of St George, for Jim Bolger and seems to be improving. He might prove to be a staying force to reckon with. Jennies Jewel has been a revelation on the flat and at 9 she would be an unlikely profile but her win at Royal Ascot over further was inspired front running. She has however had a long break since June. We will side with youth in this very interesting contest.
