Western Hymn To Call The Tune Again, At Kempton?

Today’s big race at Kempton is the Listed Floodlit Stakes (2:50pm), a 1m 4f encounter for horses aged 3 and up. First run in 2006, previous winners include Prince Bishop and Pether’s Moon. Western Hymn won the 2016 renewal.

John Gosden’s horse returns, to defend his crown and once again will be ridden by Robert Havlin. Hugo Palmer’s Best Of Days looks more-likely to go into the stalls as favourite, however. The Godolphin asset finished 3rd in Listed company, last time out at Headquarters and looks to have benefited from the introduction of cheekpieces. Marco Botti’s Dylan Mouth also demands respect. The 6-year-old is a triple G1-champion, in Italy.

Others in contention include Connecticut, Red Verdon, Soldier In Action and Mark Johnston’s Titi Makfi. UK Action is also taking place at Southwell and Plumpton.
