Picks From The Paddock Best Bet – Wednesday 9th January

13:55 Lingfield

The Richard Hughes trained Uncle Jerry can run off the same mark as when beaten an agonising neck at Kempton on Saturday and he looks a solid pick in this one. The Kyllachy Bay Colt hasn’t ran a bad race in his last seven outings and a repeat of Saturday’s run would easily be enough to land the spoils here. The experienced Shane Kelly retains the ride and could easily get a soft lead and steal this one from the front. The main danger will likely come from Richard Hannon’s London Rock, who was unlucky not to win over course and distance in his last outing and he also has the same mark today.

19.15 Kempton

The Tony Carroll team know the way to the winner’s enclosure and that is exactly where they went last time out with stable debutant Chetan, who won in nice fashion in a hands and heels apprentice race. Unpenalised for that win, the horse historically holds his form well once rediscovering it and he has a fantastic opportunity to go in again here. Ralph Beckett’s Briyouni was an impressive course and distance winner the last time he was at the track and would rate the main danger, but was not quite as good next time out at Lingfield, so Toby Eley’s seven pound claim may just swing it for Chetan who is the clear selection to land the spoils.
