Cottonvale was in the process of a big run at Hereford earlier in the month, in the lead and responding well under his riders’ urgings, before clipping the final flight and coming down. The winner was stablemate Uno Mas who has come out and won since and the trainer continues in fantastic form (5 wins from twelve over the last two weeks) so a 2lbs rise looks lenient and he can gain compensation today.
Steel Native has done all his winning at Ffos Las, including over larger obstacles last time out, so would have to be considered a danger. That said, he would probably prefer there to be a little more rain around and he has been beaten off this mark the last time he raced over hurdles so may have to settle for minor honours.
Get Wishes arrives here in good form and has the benefit of Jonjo O’Neill Jnr claiming 5lbs so is another worthy of a mention, for all he has to prove his stamina over todays’ trip.

Just the three runners scheduled to go to post but this looks to be a good little race with all three in with chances. Whatswrongwithyou has conditions to suit and looks sure to build on a half-length second on chase debut last month, while The Last Day has a 50% winning strike rate over a two-mile trip and was a respectable second to White Moon on second run over fences on New Years Day.
That said, Potters Story is unbeaten in two over course and distance when tackling hurdles and his trainer has an excellent record with his chasers at the course. With just the three runners this could become a tactical affair so I am hoping the course experience can be put to good use and give Potters Story a victory on chase debut.
