George Baker’s yard knows the winner’s enclosure well at Kempton and they look to have another nailed on chance this evening. The Lamplighter beat a subsequent winner over course and distance last month in impressive fashion despite the rider dropping the reins within the final furlong. The length and a half winning margin plus the form being franked by Roman Spinner coming out and winning impressively too makes this one the no-brainer selection here. The red-hot Nicola Currie retains the ride from the saddle and will hope for the same result tonight. Expresso Freddo would be a danger to all if getting a true pace to aim at, but has a bit to find with the selection with improvement expected.

Tom George and his team seem to be just starting to get their horses to peak form this term and the yard’s old favourite Singlefarmpayment looks poised to strike here today after a decent seasonal reappearance when fourth behind the reopposing Rock the Kasbah. The Tom George 8yo is a course and distance winner who has a great record in December with two wins and two placed efforts from six starts in the month throughout his career, including a win on this card in 2016. He will have come on for his seasonal reappearance last time out so with improvement expected and with a pull in the weight with the aforementioned rival as well to consider, he looks a standout bet at an each way price in this field.
