Cambridgeshire Handicap Looks A Real Puzzle For Punters
Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire Meeting is just over a fortnight away and 3 big races are already attracting plenty of bets in our ante-post market. All take place on Saturday 24th September.
The Cambridgeshire Handicap will be as competitive as always. Horses already prominent in the betting include Firmament, Third Time Lucky, Spark Plug, Master The World, Great Order, Dommerson, Celestial Path, Brave Zolo and Banksea.
Each-way backers are showing interest in the likes of Treasury Notes, Second Wave and Sagaciously. It’s a very tricky one for punters, but can you pick out this year’s winner?
Lady In Waiting
Some of the most promising 2-year-olds in the business will contest the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Lumiere was the 2015 champion.
Wesley Ward’s Aurelia has quickly emerged as this year’s ante-post favourite. Victorious on debut at Keeneland, she won the G2 Queen Mary Stakes by 7-lengths before getting the better of Alrahma in the G1 Morny at Deauville.
Richard Fahey’s Queen Kindly looks the biggest threat. Her shock defeat of Fair Eva, in the G2 Lowther Stakes at York, puts the Frankel filly firmly in the picture.
Aidan O’Brien’s Roly Poly is another to consider.
Blue Point’s The Apple Of Charlie’s Eye
This year’s G1 Middle Park Stakes looks like being the juvenile contest of the season, so far. Charlie Appleby’s Blue Point was sensational in the G2 Gimcrack Stakes, beating Mokarris by 3 lengths.
Aidan O’Brien’s Caravaggio was equally impressive, when beating Richard Hannon’s Mehmas in the G2 Coventry Stakes.
Intelligence Cross, Tis Marvellous, Seven Heavens and Psychedelic Funk have also found friends in the market.
Don’t rule out Peace Envoy, another O’Brien inmate, either.
