There’s another cracking card at Champ de Mars, on Saturday. Which horses are most-likely to end up in the winners enclosure?
Rousset’s Obligation looked like being the victor, in the Sir Gaetan Duval Q. C Cup, before a superb late run by Dunraven denied the 6-year-old. Obligation can go one better, in the opener and win for the first time in a year. Alberts Day and Black Gambit should also go close.
Race #2
Billy Bojangles only has a couple of wins from 18 starts, but excellent displays when runner-up in both the Monastic Cup and the Philippe Goupille Cup sets the R. Maingard inmate in good stead. The 6-year-old is preferred to both Lord Al and My Man Alex.
Race #3
This looks like being a shootout between Beluga and Maestro’s Salute. It will probably be close, but Beluga should just about extend an impressive series of wins. The drop in trip is not expected to be a problem.
Race #4
Gujadhur’s Strum has an excellent strike-record, winning almost one-third of the 26 races the 6-year old has contested. With B. Kennedy on-board, Strum proved too good for Fort Ozark in the National Mutual Fund Cup last month and can win again on Saturday at the expense of Step To Fame.
Race #5
Only 4 horses are expected to contest the 5th race, the Casela World Of Adventures Cup. Yet another victory looks on the cards for R. Maingard’s Speed Limit, who narrowly bested The Tripster back in September. Mootahadee looks the biggest danger.
The Medine Cup can also only boast a quartet of runners, but this should be a much more competitive affair. Cases can be made for each of horses, but the A. Perdrau-trained Nordic Warrior is the tentative pick. The 6-year-old very nearly made all, in the Mauritius Union Group Colonel Draper Cup and can dominate from a prominent position once again.
Race #7
League Of Legends looks a good bet for the Cascavelle Shopping Mall Cup, following a comfortable defeat of Ravatak a fortnight ago. Susie’s Arrow is expected to improve significantly and looks the most likely to challenge.
Race #8
Port Albert remains a remarkably consistent animal and the experience of C. Ramdin’s 8-year-old can bear fruit in the last. Epicentre, Joe’s Legacy and Ek That Tiger should also run big races.
