La Plata is in Buenos Aires. It is probably best known for it’s two football teams – Estudiantes de La Plata and Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.
In the early 1950s, the city was briefly renamed as Eva Peron, before resuming the original name a few years later. It has been recommended as a world heritage city, by UNESCO, although a final decision on this has yet to be reached.
The weather in La Plata is humid and subtropical. It can snow, but this happens quite rarely. Racing has been held at La Plata since the late Nineteenth Century. One of the most important La Plata races is the Provincia de Buenos Aires Stakes – a group one encounter over 2200 metres (dirt track).
Other notable Argentinien racecourses include the Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo, the Hipodromo de Rosario, Rosario and the Hipodromo de San Isidro.
Brazil Horse Racing
