Kieren Fallon Royal Ascot Preview – Day 4

DAY FOUR at Royal Ascot is when the ladies take centre stage on the track with three of the six races for the fillies.

I think we could see some very good performances this year with the likes of Hermosa coming into the day with strong form. Hopefully we can find a good few winners in among all the runners.

2.30 Royal Ascot: Albany Stakes – Precious Moments

Aidan O’Brien always targets his best fillies at this race rather than the Queen Mary, so I like the look of Precious Moments in this. She’s a maiden and you’d rather be coming in off the back of a win but she’s a filly with class, I’m sure. The ground could well be against Nayibeth. I know they like her a lot, but the US horses prefer top of the ground and she’s not going to get that.

3.05 Royal Ascot: King Edward VII Stakes – Pablo Escobarr

Coming into the Derby Japan had a lot to prove and wasn’t as strong a contender as some of Aidan’s other runners, but didn’t he run well? That’s really good form, but I like the look of Pablo Escobarr. He’s going to act on the ground and he’s improved at home since his run in the Racebets Lingfield Derby Trial last month. He wasn’t beaten far by the Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck that day and wasn’t given a hard time. I think he’s real good value against the favourite.

3.40 Royal Ascot: Commonwealth Cup – Hello Youmzain

He was very impressive at Haydock this horse. He’s only getting better and, again, he’s good value against the favourite Ten Sovereigns. He’s a tough, genuine horse who wants to win races and I think that’s going to help him at the finish.

4.20 Royal Ascot: Coronation Stakes – Hermosa

You have to be with her – I really can’t see beyond her. She won the 1,000 Guineas and then was even better in the Irish 1,000 Guineas so she has the best form in the race.

5.00 Royal Ascot: Sandringham Stakes – Magnetic Charm

I think we could be celebrating a royal winner in this race. Magnetic Charm won well at York in a Listed race and has Group form as a two-year-old. She’s got to give away weight to all of her rivals, but she’s a classy filly and has been working really well at home.

Centre is MAGNETIC CHARM with James Doyle wins from right TWIST ‘N’ SHAKE 3rd in Oaks farm Stables Fillies Stakes at York 17-5-19.

5.35 Royal Ascot: Duke of Edinburgh Stakes – Baghdad

I like this horse a lot. He won the King George V Stakes at this meeting last year and he’s as tough as nails. The second half of the week is when his trainer Mark Johnston really comes good and I think this lad will add to his haul.

Good luck,

Kieren
