Donald McCain – Weekend Runners

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the Bankhouse team with ten runners over the weekend. I think Federici should run well in the Grand Sefton at Aintree on Saturday, while Lord Springfield should go well at Wetherby. I run four on Sunday with previous point-to-point winners, Bright Side Oflife and Heartbreak Kid going to Kelso, with Winding Roe and Chelsea Flyer heading to Huntingdon.

You can read all of my thoughts on my runners this weekend below:

Lightening Dance
Track: Aintree – 11:30
Jockey: Henry Brooke

She’s having her first run for having come out of Amanda Perrett’s. She has schooled nicely at home but will undoubtedly come on for the experience.

Mount Mews
Track: Aintree – 1:00
Jockey: Will Kennedy

He obviously ran a really nice race at Wetherby on his comeback and if he backs that up on ground he’ll appreciate then he should go close.

Track: Aintree – 3:15
Jockey: Will Kennedy

I was hoping the ground might come up softer for him but he’s got a good record when fresh, likes the fences and is weighted to run a big race.

Track: Wetherby – 1:40
Jockey: Sean Quinlan

He normally needs a run or two so it was a surprise to me when he won at Kelso on his latest start. This race doesn’t look the hottest and judged on that he must have a strong chance.

Dear Sire

Dear Sire
Track: Wetherby – 2:15
Jockey: Lorcan Murtagh

I was happy with his comeback run after being off for the best part of 13 months and he’s come on plenty for it. He’s a talented horse and hopefully with Lorcan claiming a valuable three-pounds he might run into the money.

Lord Springfield
Track: Wetherby – 2:50
Jockey: Danny McMenamin

This horses’ future was always going to be over fences and he ran well on chasing debut only to be disqualified (Lost weight cloth). I think he’s come on from that run and being a former point-to-point winner he should do well over fences.

Winding Roe
Track: Huntingdon – 12:30
Jockey: Lorcan Murtagh

This fella lost a shoe when disappointing the last day but had strung some good runs together prior to that and should run his race.

Chelsea Flyer

Chelsea Flyer
Track: Huntingdon – 1:30
Jockey: Abbie McCain

He ran pretty keenly on his first start for me at Huntingdon but I think he’ll settle much better tomorrow under Abbie. It’s tough off his current mark, he needs some help from the handicapper.

Heartbreak Kid
Track: Kelso – 12:15
Jockey: Brian Hughes

He was an impressive winner of his Irish point-to-point but was slightly disappointing at Bangor. I think he’s improved since and I’m hoping for a better run.

Bright Side Oflife
Track: Kelso – 2:45
Jockey: Brian Hughes

He’s another point-to-point winner and ran well for a long way at Hexham. He should take a step forward and has a big chance.

Best Chance: Lord Springfield
