It was fantastic to have runners again this week and get back into the routine of racing. Obviously it has been a very tough time for everyone here at Bankhouse and I must thank all my staff who’ve been brilliant through it all.

I was hoping that Constancio would win at Musselburgh yesterday but the wayward tendencies had shown when with Jim Bolger in Ireland unfortunately resurfaced.

It’s times like these where everyone has had to work extra hard, that the prize-money on offer at certain tracks just isn’t enough. There is nearly more money on offer for winning an open point to point in Ireland than there is for winning a chase in Britain.

It’s because of this I have decided to support the boycott at Sedgefield on Sunday. I have declared Wazowski to run, who has a walk over and will receive the full £3,500 on offer.

It’s has been agreed that this prize money will be donated to the Injured Jockey’s Fund’s Jack Berry House in Malton.

Hopefully this puts some pressure on the Arena Racing Company for better prizemoney and it’s onwards and upwards now for the rest of the season.

Saturday

Pogue
Track:
Kelso – 1:40
Jockey: Brian Hughes

We have come back to two miles with him here. I’m sure he is going to want further but he travelled strongly the last day. Kelso is a sharp track but the ground will be nice and we have been desperate to get a run into him. So we just have to keep going and getting runs into these horses.

It’s a small field, Nick l has a bumper winner in there that hasn’t shown much since and Paul Nicholls has a French recruit making his British debut. They are two very differnt types of horses, you have a sharp French horse and a fine big chasing type. Oaul’s horse may have too much speed for our fell but we’ll see what happens.

Knock House on the gallops at Bankhouse

Knock House
Track:
Doncaster – 1:50
Jockey: Will Kennedy

I wanted to run him at Kelso but the way the weights wee working out he’d have to carry too much weight. He’s been running well and the plan is to run him in Aintree. We will probably ride him slightly differently tomorrow and in truth he’s possibly high enough in the hnadicap now.

Knockrobin
Track:
Kelso – 3:55
Jockey: Brian Hughes

He’s a funny horse, it looked like he was going to win at Newcastle the last day. We have had his wind done since then and he’s a horse that’s always shown plenty. So in this type of race he has to have a big chance.

The Herbs Garden
Track:
Doncaster – 4:40
Jockey: Abbie McCain

We were on the fence about running but after discussing it with Richard we decide to take our chance. It’s not a big field and he’s in good form.

Sunday

Shantaluze
Track:
Sedgefield – 2:20
Jockey: Brian Hughes

He’s got to give a lot of weight to Henry Oliver’s horse who definitely wasn’t off the day we beat him. I want to run him over a bit further because I want to see where I stand with him. It looks like he’ll want the longer trip but he may struggle to give a stone away to his rivals.

Valleyofmilan (Blue)

Valleyofmilan
Track:
  Sedgefield – 4:25
Jockey: Theo Gillard

He’s an old horse now that stays very well, so the 3 miles 3 furlong trip around Sedgefield will suit hi well. It’s quite a specialist trip really and if he’s in the right frame of mind he could run well. That being said it’s a very big if!

Onthefrontfoot
Track:
  Sedgefield – 5:00
Jockey: Brian Hughes

We quite like him but it looks like quite a strong bumper for Sedgefield. He’s a good, hardy, professional little horse and I’d be hoping for a nice run.

Best Chance: Knockrobin
