It’s been a quiet week so far for this time of year owed mainly due to the abandonment’s on Wednesday and Thursday though it was great to see It’s All Lark winning in great style up at Kelso on Tuesday with my daughter Abbie in the saddle. Constancio winning so impressively on Friday at Doncaster was certainly a highlight, it’s always great to train winners for Elite Racing.

As we are moving ever closer to the Spring festivals I thought Presenting Percy was very impressive at Gowran Park considering it was his first run back and over hurdles. For me, Native River is still the one they all have to beat but Presenting Percy certainly showed why his where he is in the betting.

We’ve entered Uppertown Prince in to the Four Miler on the first day of the festival and he’s always been a horse I’ve liked a great deal. We’ll want to get more experience in to him before we decide to go down the festival route and he’s entered at Kempton on Monday but with the ground the way it is we may have to go elsewhere.

Looking ahead to this weekend I’ve got 5 runners across 3 meetings tomorrow and follow that up with the 3 at the RaceBets sponsored card at Sedgefield.

Saturday

Wozowski
Track:
 Uttoxeter – 1:05
Jockey: Lorcan Murtagh

Named after the Monster’s Inc. character owing to his one eye he’s slowly coming back to a mark he can be competitive off. I’ve no issues with the trip and he’ll like the ground a lot more than in his last run. He should run his race whether there’s one here who’s better handicapped is the question.

Tawseef
Track:
 Uttoxeter – 2:50
Jockey: Abbie McCann

Its been difficult for Tawseef off the mark he earned for himself from his performances at the backend of 2017. He’s been dropped 3lb for his last run though I suspect he will still find things tough off his current weight.

Federici
Track:
 Doncaster – 3:15
Jockey: Brian Hughes

He ran really well in this last year and is off a lower mark this time round. I think he has a great chance with conditions in his favour and is an excellent jumper highlighted by his run in the Becher. He’s 10 now but there’s a lot of nice days to be had with him.

Chti Balko
Track:
 Cheltenham – 4:10
Jockey: William Kennedy

Ultra-consistent and has been running really well off big weights at Haydock and as such has to concede weight to all here. This is first run at Cheltenham and should he run well I’d like to think we can aim him at the County Hurdle.

Sunday

Culmination
Track:
 Sedgefield – 1:10
Jockey: Brian Hughes

His run last time was really disappointing and I’ve struggled to find a reason for it, it was only his 2nd run back after a long time out so maybe it’s just the bounce factor. If he runs the same again he’ll have no chance but if he’s back to where he was the run prior, then he comes in to this with a big chance. He likes the track having finished 2nd there twice.

Whiteoak Fleur
Track:
 Sedgefield – 2:10
Jockey: Brian Hughes

It doesn’t look the strongest of races and if she reproduces her last run she’ll go close. If she repeats the form of her Kelso run in December I think she’ll win.

Rockalzaro
Track:
 Uttoxeter – 1:05
Jockey: Lorcan Murtagh

We kept stepping him up in trip as he had not really been travelling that well but then travelled really well the last time but failed to get home. I think the drop back in trip will help, if he settles well he’ll have a chance,.
