It was great to get the jump season off to a flyer with Onthefrontfoot winning earlier in the week. Last season was quite frustrating and hopefully, that winner is a sign of things to come for the season ahead.

William Of Orange
Track: Haydock – 2:00
Jockey: Will Kennedy

He’s got two ways of running, so he has good days and bad days but he likes Haydock Park, it’s a place where he’s run some very good races. It’s a tough starting point for him with the top horse making him out of the handicap but because of that there is a small field and it’s a good starting point. William is a horse you will be seeing plenty of during the summer.

Artichoke Heart
Track: Hexham – 2:40
Jockey: Henry Brooke

I don’t think her bumper form is too bad as it was a warmish race the last day. Obviously, her middle run was disappointing but the ground was possibly too quick for her that day. She’s not overly big but is a great jumper and she must have an each-way chance.

Flemens Story
Track: Hexham – 4:25
Jockey: Brian Hughes

Tim Vaughan’s horse has been running well in handicaps so he’s ok and the Anthony Honeyball horse must not be overly quick if he’s going over three miles this soon in his career. I have been waiting to run Flemens Story for quite a while and he’ll be running over fences sooner rather than later but he’s got a chance.

Bright Side Oflife
Track: Hexham – 5:35
Jockey: Brian Hughes

She’s a massive horse who is still a bit raw and I was hoping the ground would be slightly softer as it’s dried back out. She is a big long striding mare that goes ok at home but she jumps well and will be going over hurdles in the near future. I didn’t want to finish the season without running her and she goes ok but looks like one for the future rather than today.

Best Chance: Artichoke Heart
