It was fantastic to see Tiger Roll win back-to-back Grand Nationals and who knows he might emulate Red Rum next year by adding a third National. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to add my name to the score sheet at Aintree with Federici and Fin And Game (On holidays now) both pulling up on Saturday. That being said I still fully enjoyed the week and I’m already looking forward to next year.
Looking ahead to this weekend, I’m running six horses at Bangor on Saturday. It’s one of my local tracks where owners want to have runners and hopefully, we might have a winner or two.
It’s his first run back and he is notoriously difficult as he’s half a runaway, so you can only do so much with him at home. I’m sure he’s probably going to need the run and over fences, he’s probably better going the other way around.
He is a grand old horse who always seems to run his race. The handicapper seems to have him in his grips and if anything sparkles on the day then they will probably beat him.
I quite liked him as a point to pointer but he’s very raw horse and immature. He’s having his first run in a handicap and I’d be expecting an improved run from him.
Track: Bangor – 3:55
Jockey: Abbie McCain
I thought the ground was going to be too slow for him but it’s drying up the whole time and I think it will be fine for him now. He is guaranteed to run his race and it’s just a question of whether he’s good enough really.
She showed a bit more the last day which was encouraging. It might be that she needs 3 miles but it’s close so we will run.
He ran pretty well the last day and with Danceintothelight in the field he’ll get a decent pace. He’s a bit tricky though and not one to put too much faith in.
Its All A Lark
Track: Stratford – 4:20
Jockey: Abbie McCain
The place should suit her if the ground is good enough, she is obviously going up the handicap but this is mares only and the lowest grade she can get in under. Abbie takes a few pounds off and hopefully, she should run well.
Pinch Of Ginger
Track: Stratford – 4:50
Jockey: Henry Brooke
He’s a nice horse that seems to be going the right way. I’m not entirely sure he wants 3m 3f around Stratford but we are there and he’s got a chance.
Best Chance: Its All A Lark
