It’s been a long term project buying Navajo Pass as a yearling and thankfully that decision is paying off now with him landing the Gr\de 2 Juvenile Hurdle at Doncaster last weekend. He did it the hard way from the front and took a stumble at the back of the last but I couldn’t be happier with him and he’s an exciting horse to have in the yard. In general, the horses are all running well and I go to Haydock on Saturday with three live chances.
I’m still not convinced that he’s in love with heavy ground but some of his better form is on it and obviously, he was second in this race last year behind a future Fighting Fifth winner. So he must have a big chance again.
I know he can get a good bit lower grade now but it’s Haydock and it’s heavy ground and he’s won plenty of races there. It might be at this stage that it’s a grade too high for him but he loves the track so we’ll take a chance.
Before we went to Bangor I’d be thinking of staying at 2 miles but it was two and a half that day and he stayed on well. The wind-op has obviously helped him and on his ideal conditions and track, he has a big chance of winning this.
Best Chance: Chti Balko
