Colossus Bets Now Live At RaceBets

We’re offering you a new way to bet on UK and Irish Racing with Colossus Pool Betting now live on site covering all UK and Irish meetings.

If you are new to this type of betting; pool betting is a form of betting where players contribute a fixed amount (‘stake’) into a pool and then make a selection on an outcome or series of outcomes (‘legs’). The pool (after operator deductions) is then divided among those that have made the correct selection.

Colossus pools have modernised the traditional form of pool betting by featuring:

Guaranteed jackpot prizes – available to winners regardless of the total amount of player contributions into the pools

Consolation prizes – for those who closely miss winning the jackpot prizes – you will still win a share if you get 4 or 5 out of 6 in the Win 6 and if you get 3 out of 4 in a Win 4.

Lower Pool Takeouts – Lower operator deductions compared to the UK Tote

Bet Types

You’ll find a range of multi-leg pool types available on site;

Saturday 7 – Pick the winner of the 7 selected top races on a Saturday with consolation prizes for getting 5 or 6 correct

Win 6 – Pick the winner of the first 6 races on a racecard

Win 4 – Pick the winner of races 3 – 6 on a racecard

Place 6 – You can win without even backing a winner, you need to pick a horse to place in each of the first 6 races on a racecard. Place terms are;

  • 4 runners or less – 1 place (winner)
  • 5 – 7 runners – 2 places
  • 8 or more runners in non-handicap races – 3 places
  • 8 – 15 runners in Handicaps – 3 places
  • 16 or more runners in Handicaps – 4 places

How much does it cost to play

For Win pools the minimum stake is 20p and for Place pools this is 10p. For all bet types you are able to perm (short for permutations) your selections giving you greater chances of winning. Perm means picking more than one horse in a race but this increases the cost of the overall bet. To calculate the cost of the bet, multiply the number of horses you have in each leg, for example if you have 2 horses in a six leg pool the total is – 2x2x2x2x2x2=64. If your stake per line is 20p this means your total bet cost is £12.80 (64 x 20p).

How much can I win

Winnings are calculated by dividing the pool total by how many units are remaining after the finish of the last leg. For Place pools a unit is equal to £1 and for Win pools this is £2, if you chose a lower stake than the default when you placed your bet, you are playing for a fraction of the headline jackpot. For example, in a Place 6 pool with a Jackpot of £5,000, a £1 stake per line plays for £5,000, a £0.50 stake per line plays for £2,500 and a £0.20 stake per line plays for £1,000.

How to place a bet?

You will need to navigate your way to the racecard of the first leg of your desired bet type. For Win 6 and Place 6 this will be the first race and for a Win 4 this will be the 3rd race.
