The Grade 1 Supreme Novices Hurdle gets things underway at 13:30 and you can bet that the 65000 in attendance will raise the roof in anticipation of their selection getting them off to a winning start. The big one of the day is the Champion Hurdle, a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race open to horses aged four years and older. Last year’s winner, the Nicky Henderson trained Buveur d’Air, starts as favourite again, however with eight hurdles to contend with over two miles and £225,000 at stake for the winner, expect Faugheen, Yorkhill and My Tent Or Yours, to also be in the running.
Find out what Sam Twiston-Davies and Luke Harvey think will happen in the big race of the opening day.
