If you want an expert tipster’s Channel 4 racing tips, then you have come to the right place. Every Saturday our resident tipster, Harry Redmond, meticulously analyses each Channel 4 televised race to pinpoint the horses he believes will come out on top.
There are 8 races televised on Channel 4 this Saturday, 7th May, 2016 starting at 2:15pm taking in action at Haydock, Ascot and Lingfield.
Here are Harry’s selections;
2:15 Haydock – John Constable
Trainer Evan Williams can boast 2 winners from the last 3 runnings of this race. He is represented by John Constable here who ran well in defeat at Ayr, in April. The 5yo was a smart animal on the flat and with further improvement likely over hurdles, he can go very close today.
2:30 Ascot – Sign Of Victory
Representing the powerhouse trainer Nicky Henderson, Sign Of Victory, a listed winner over hurdles, looks to have been given a kind introduction to handicapping on the flat. An easy winner in his only flat start to date, he looks sure to run a big race with William Buick on-board.
2:45 Haydock – Kelinni
An easy winner at Thirsk last month, this 8yo has been a revelation since being campaigned over shorter trips. Forth in the Melbourne Cup in 2012, a move to Yorkshire trainer Kevin Ryan has injected new life into the gelding and he looks set to make his mark in pattern company.
3:05 Ascot – Oriental Fox
A heavily-gambled 2nd in last season’s Cesarewitch, the 8yo drops in trip here, at a course he has ran well at previously. Guided by master front-running rider Joe Fanning, I can see the Mark Johnston inmate making this a real stamina test and galloping them into the ground.
3:25 Lingfield – Mountain Bell
Trainer Ralph Beckett has won this race 3 times, in the last 10 years. He sends out Mountain Bell here. The filly was a 10-length winner at Windsor last month and can win again today, before making her presence felt in the Epsom Oaks next month.
3:40 Ascot – Moon River
A multiple winner on the All-Weather, the Michael Appleby trained 4yo has taken her form to a new level this spring. Able to run off a lower mark, on turf, she should put her disappointing run of last time behind her. Today’s better ground should assist in seeing her run a big race.
4:00 Lingfield – Carntop
A comfortable winner on his final run last season, this Dansili colt can further improve Ralph Beckett’s growing reputation and provide the trainer with a classic trial double at Lingfield on Saturday. Owned by the Prince Of Wales & Duchess Of Cornwall, you may even see the 3yo at Royal Ascot later in the year.
4:15 Ascot – Grand Inquisitor
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and lightly raced, the 4yo looks likely to appreciate the return to a better surface. With only one run under his belt in 2016, he will strip fitter for his reappearance and can resume his progression in these competitive handicaps, perhaps even reaching listed level in time.
