Age: 4 (Foaled March 19th, 2013)
Sex: Bay Gelding
Breeding: Elnadim (USA) – Royal Blush (Royal Applause)
Trainer: C Hills
Owner: Tony Wechsler & Ann Plummer
Successful on the polytrack, at Kempton in April, where he just about got the better of Robot Boy despite edging left towards the finish. A poor start to the race probably cost the 4-year-old victory at Goodwood, before he confirmed his ability by grabbing 4th place in the Epsom Dash. Should go close.
Kimberella
Age: 7 (Foaled April 15th, 2010)
Sex: Bay Gelding
Breeding: Kyllachy – Gleam of Light (IRE) (Danehill (USA))
Trainer: R A Fahey
Owner: Mr C Titcomb
Enjoyed a terrific start to the campaign, winning twice at Lingfield (Kimberella beat Gracious John to land a rich All-Weather Sprint Championships Final). Looked a little out of his depth though, in G3 company at Headquarters and Connor Murtagh found little when he pressed the button on him in the Epsom Dash (finished 10th). 4th in this race last year though, so he demands respect.
Edward Lewis
Age: 4 (Foaled May 5th, 2013)
Sex: Bay Gelding
Breeding: Kyllachy – Tahirah (Green Desert (USA))
Trainer: D O’Meara
Owner: Akela Construction Ltd
Already has a brace of victories, under his belt, the first of which came at Beverley where East Street Revue was beaten by a head (favourite Gamesome was back in 3rd). The other win came at Lingfield, where the likes of Orvar, Distant Past and Stepper Point were put to the sword. 5th in the Epsom Dash, after being forced to switch left and ran on strongly. Looks a big threat.
The race looks wide-open and the likes of Duke Of Firenze, Double Up, Desert Law, Caspian Prince and Judicial are also attracting support.
Racing At Musselburgh
Musselburgh Racecourse can be found in the East Lothian region of Scotland and it is the biggest venue in the country apart from Ayr. Both flat and National Hunt encounters take place here.
It’s a historic track and the 9-hole golf course at the centre is almost 350 years old. Access to the course can only be gained on race-days, as it can only be reached via a bridge that is closed at other times.
Other big races include the Maggie Dickson Stakes, the Royal Mile, the Edinburgh Cup and the Queen’s Cup.
