Neon Wolf

Harry Fry’s charge is unbeaten in his 3 starts and the 6-year-old has plenty of friends in the market. He won the Supreme Trial, at Haydock, by 9 lengths from Elgin in January.

“He’s very well and came out of that Haydock success in good order,” Fry said afterwards.

Finian’s Oscar

Sired by Oscar and out of Taipan, Colin Tizzard’s bay gelding is also undefeated in 3 outings. He made short work of David Pipe’s Taws, at Exeter, although most punters swerved the 1/16 starting-price. You’ll find far-more generous odds available for this top-class G1 encounter.

Tizzard commented, after the victory: “I’m favouring the Neptune, but I don’t know why I am because he is a brother to Finian’s Rainbow who was a two-miler. They tell me the Neptune is a bit of a stop-start race, but the last half of the race is just as fast as the Supreme.”

Bacardys

Willie Mullins has multiple entries, but most think that this French inmate will be his main throw of the dice. He fell at Cork, but has recovered well, notching twice at Leopardstown. Bacardys beat stablemate Bunk Off Early by three-quarters-of-a-length, in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle, despite not always navigating a straight path.

“He’s improving all the time. I needed to run him there to get experience into him as he had a hold up after Christmas. I’m actually surprised he stayed on the way he did. He obviously doesn’t take a lot of training.”, Mullins told reporters.

Others in contention include Death Duty, Let’s Dance, Monalee and Alan King’s Messire Des Obeaux.

This race is also known as the Baring Bingham Novices’ Hurdle and it has been a fixture since 1971. It’s a 2m 5f contest and there are 10 hurdles to be negotiated.

Great Winners Of The Neptune

Famous champions include The New One, Simonsig, Fiveforthree, Hardy Eustace, Istabraq and Danoli. Willie Mullins has won 2 of the last 3 renewals. Faugheen landed the spoils for him in 2014, while Yorkhill took the money last year.

You can make a bet in our ante-post markets, on any 2017 Cheltenham Festival race. This includes the Champion Hurdle, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, The Triumph Hurdle, The RSA Chase and the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
