Fell after failing to respond to Sam Twiston-Davies’ urges in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton, but has bounced back well since then. Victory at Musselburgh preceeded another smart win back at Kempton and the 5-year-old comes into this encounter in great form.

Won the Grand Sefton Handicap, back in December, beating Seefood by a full 5 lengths. Was pulled-up on New Year’s Day at Cheltenham though and could have no complaints when beaten by Kilcrea Vale at Fontwell.

Still highly-regarded, despite no wins since May 2014. Fell at Punchestown, before finishing 3rd behind The Paparrazi Kid and Lisclogher Lad at Punchestown. Prior to those 2 contests, he was runner-up in G1 company at Leopardstown. Clearly still has bags of class, but he’s become expensive to back.
You can take your pick from a whole-host of other good horses, for this year’s Topham, including Go Conquer, Seefood, Henryville and Gold Present.
Race History
Cadamstown won the inaugural Topham Chase, way-back in 1949. Recent winners include Eastlake, Rajdhani Express, Ma Filleule, Triolo D’Alene and Peter Bowen’s Always Waining who won the race for a 3rd consecutive time in 2012.
The Topham Chase is one of only three races to be run over the Grand National fences (the Foxhunters Chase and the Grand National itself being the other two).
